The original Agreements with South Bay Community Services (SBCS) for the After School Education and Safety (ASES) and After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens (ASSETs) programs were approved by the board of trustees on June 28, 2021, Board Agenda Item G-2, for $1,682,000.
State and federal programs is seeking approval for amendments to the ASES and ASSETs Agreements. The additional cost for these provisions is $71,107. The amendments consist of the following:
1. Provide training in Community Assessment Team.
2. Provide Here-Now skills and philosophies to allow staff to screen for service needs more efficiently.
3. Enhance trainings for Before and After School Programs (BASP) South Bay Community Services staff to better identify families who can benefit from Community Services.
4. First 5 First Steps and Proud Parenting programs will be offered.
5. BASP South Bay Community Services staff will work collaboratively with site staff to support the referral process for mental health as needed when students show social emotional needs during the before and after school program.
This Board Agenda Item supports LCAP Goal 2, safe and healthy environment, because it supports students and families to successfully navigate this transitional year back to in person instruction due to the COVID pandemic.
